01/03/2007:  Add about another 12 hours onto this project for the past couple of days.  It's
been spent prepping the tub - tedious and slow going work that seems to make a mess out
of your hands, your shop, and your clothes!   The guys are still removing things - like the
sound-deadeners that are glued to the roof and floor with some sort of adhesive that is a
real stinker to get off.  It just takes time. We try to pick things up as we go along so we
won't have a huge mess in our small shop, especially since we already have another
racecar (the modified) sitting beside what we are working on so there really isn't a whole
lot of room to move around. Our junk barrel has gotten a little heavier each day; Joey has
been figuring out how many pounds equals 1 horsepower ;o) The body is starting to
resemble something that is suitable for a rollcage finally.  Since school has started back
up, the time spent in the shop has cut down quite a bit, although they did get a lot done
last week and that's a good thing!
Next will be finishing up this part of the project - detailing it, so to speak - so it will be
ready to set back onto the frame when the time comes.  We'll keep ya posted when there's
more to tell about!
01/07/2007:  It's been a couple of days now finishing
up the boring details.  The tub is pretty much
finished, and today was a really nice day, so we
decided to work on the frame.

First, the suspension came off. . .then all the
brackets & lines were taken off too so that all the
loose dirt and grease could be knocked off with a
wire brush or putty knife.  Once that was done, four
of us lifted the frame onto the trailer, and headed for
the sandblaster.  In a matter of about an hour, the
frame looked like new, as did some of the
suspension pieces.  Messy job, but great results!

Yes, it is a lot of work - more trouble than a lot of
people would go through (we didn't do all this on the
one we built last year either) - but this way we know
for sure that we did it right and didn't overlook
anything.  The intent is to have a clean, competitive
strictly stock in the end.  As of today, there are
about 43 hours into this project in just teardown and
preparation alone.

Thank you Brian Riendeau - aka "Homer", also
thank you Dwight Jarvis for your help!  The end
result looks great to us!  :o)

Till next time - this car is almost on it's way back
together!  We will keep updating as we go. . .
